The method we use is steam cleaning accompanied by biodegradable chemicals, which are safer to use on carpet, but really effective and impressive.
When the job is completed the carpet is left walk on dry as we extract approximately 80% of the moisture off the carpet. However, sometimes it may take 2 to 3 hours to dry completely, depending on air flow and weather.
